Utiel-Requena is a denomination of origin for Spanish wines from the Utiel-Requena region located in the western part of the province of Valencia. Designated in 1932, the production area is made up of 9 municipalities: Camporrobles, Caudete de las Fuentes, Fuenterrobles, Siete Aguas, Sinarcas, Utiel, Requena, Venta del Moro, and Villargordo del Cabriel, having the headquarters of the Regulatory Council in the city de Utiel, in the emblematic building of the Bodega Redonda.
Watered by the Río Magro and the Río Caballero, it has an area of 40,942 Ha and has about 7000 families and more than 100 registered wineries. For this reason, wine is the main engine of the economy in this area.
The winemaking tradition of the area dates back to the 7th century BC. C. as evidenced by the amphoras found in the Iberian site of Los Villares de Caudete de las Fuentes, also known as the Old Iberian City of Kelin.
It obtained the qualification of Denomination of Origin in 1932.
